The glucometer price in India runs from about ₹435 for a Dr Morepen kit to ₹919 for an Accu-Chek Active, and a Jan Aushadhi Kendra sells its own kit for ₹492. But the meter is the cheap part. A strip costs ₹8 to ₹23 depending on the brand (₹8.44 at Jan Aushadhi, ₹11.60 to ₹22.80 for the others), and someone testing once a day uses 365 of them a year, so the strips decide what you really pay. This guide gives the current prices for the meters sold most in India, the per-strip cost of each, the best picks from the table, and the Jan Aushadhi option, with the dates we checked.

Amazon.in prices were read on 14 October 2026 and change often; the links show today’s price. Jan Aushadhi prices are PMBJP’s official MRPs, read on 23 October 2026. The order is by per-strip cost, cheapest first. The Jan Aushadhi strips at ₹8.44 each are the cheapest in the table, ahead of Dr Morepen at ₹11.60 and AGARO at about ₹13. Strips are made for a particular meter, so check that the strips you buy fit your meter. Every Kendra stocks the same kit at the same MRP, with no delivery wait, and there are Kendras inside many government hospitals, including AIIMS New Delhi.

Best glucometer in India: picks from this table

  • Lowest running cost: the Jan Aushadhi kit, ₹492 with 25 strips, then ₹8.44 a strip, bought at a Kendra.
  • Cheapest branded kit online: Dr Morepen GlucoOne BG-03, ₹435 with 25 strips, then ₹11.60 a strip.
  • Readings on a phone: BeatO CURV, ₹735, with strips at ₹16.
  • A brand your doctor knows: Accu-Chek Active or OneTouch Select Plus, with strips at ₹19 and ₹22.80.

We have not tested these meters. The picks go by price and by what each pack states, as read on the dates above. Every meter sold legally in India meets the same ISO 15197 standard, so the price difference buys brand and features, not a more correct reading.

Jan Aushadhi glucometer price in India and where to buy it

The Pradhan Mantri Bhartiya Janaushadhi Pariyojana sells a digital glucometer kit (meter, 25 strips, 25 lancets, lancing device and battery) through its Kendras. PMBJP’s official Product & MRP List (read 23 October 2026) gives the kit (code 8122) at ₹492 and a 25-strip pack of Glucometer Test Strip (code 8121) at ₹211, which is ₹8.44 a strip. It also lists a second product, Blood Glucose Monitoring Strips, 25 in a pack, at ₹180 (code 9056, ₹7.20 a strip) and does not say which meter they fit, so ask at the counter. The Government’s statement of 15 September 2026 on the expanded product basket put a 25-strip refill at ₹500. That does not match the MRP list, and it cannot be right next to a ₹492 kit that includes 25 strips, so we use the MRP list. Find the nearest Kendra with the Jan Aushadhi Sugam app or the locator on janaushadhi.gov.in. The Kendra at AIIMS New Delhi is next to the OPD; see our AIIMS Delhi OPD guide. The same counter sells the other home devices at the same kind of discount: a BP machine at ₹938 and a nebulizer at ₹750.

Sugar test machine price: what you pay in a year

Take the strip price above and multiply by how many tests your doctor has asked for. At one test a day for a year:

StripsPer strip365 tests a year730 tests a year (twice a day)
Jan Aushadhi₹8.44about ₹3,080about ₹6,160
Dr Morepen₹11.60about ₹4,230about ₹8,470
BeatO CURV₹16about ₹5,840about ₹11,680
Accu-Chek Active₹19about ₹6,920about ₹13,840
OneTouch Select Plus₹22.80about ₹8,320about ₹16,640

This is why the glucometer price in India is best read as a yearly figure. Counting the strips that come in each kit, one test a day for a year costs about ₹3,360 with the Jan Aushadhi kit, about ₹4,380 with a Dr Morepen and about ₹7,660 with an Accu-Chek Active. Accuracy standards (ISO 15197) are the same for every meter sold legally in India, so the price difference buys brand, build and app features, not a more correct number.

How to choose a glucometer once you know the glucometer price in India

How to choose a glucometer in five steps
Choosing a glucometer
  1. Price the strips before the meter. Ask what 50 strips cost at your chemist or Kendra, not just the kit.
  2. Check the strips are easy to get where you live. Dr Morepen, Accu-Chek and OneTouch strips are in most medical shops; Jan Aushadhi strips only at Kendras; BeatO strips mostly online.
  3. Decide if you need the phone app. BeatO and similar meters log readings to a phone, useful if a family member tracks a parent’s sugar from another city. Otherwise a basic meter is enough.
  4. Buy a meter that uses a small blood sample and has a strip-expiry warning, which all the meters listed here do.
  5. Keep the first clinic reading as a check. Carry the meter to your next OPD visit and compare its reading with the lab’s once; a government hospital lab charges very little for a glucose test (see the PGI test rate list).

Buying a glucometer when you are treated at a government hospital

Doctors at AIIMS, PGIMER and state medical colleges routinely ask diabetes patients to keep a home log. The hospital pharmacy does not sell meters; the Jan Aushadhi Kendra on campus (AIIMS Delhi, AIIMS Patna and many others have one) or any chemist outside does. Ayushman Bharat does not cover home glucometers or strips. If cost is the problem, the Jan Aushadhi kit and the Dr Morepen kit are the two cheapest ways to start (₹492 and ₹435, with 25 strips in each), and the HbA1c test every three months at the hospital lab is the check your doctor will rely on.
