KGMU OPD Appointment: Easy Guide to Booking and Contacts

The official way to ask about a KGMU OPD appointment is the pair of online-appointment numbers printed on kgmu.org: 0522-2258880 and 0522-3539333. KGMU is King George’s Medical University in Lucknow, and its Gandhi Memorial and Associated Hospitals treat patients from across Uttar Pradesh. This guide explains how a KGMU OPD appointment works according to the university’s own website, which departments run an OPD, what two department pages say about OPD days and hours, and where the official site is silent. It also shows what we could not confirm, so you do not rely on a guess.

General information, not medical advice. Hospital rules change. Facts below were read on 17 October 2026 on the official website kgmu.org, listed at the end. Anything we could not confirm is flagged in the text.

KGMU OPD appointment: what the official site says

The home page and the Patients page of kgmu.org carry one line about booking: Contact for Online Appointment for KGMU OPD, followed by two telephone numbers. The Patients page also shows the logo of the Online Registration System (ORS) at ors.gov.in. These are the only booking instructions the official site gives.

Please read that table carefully. The site does not publish a general OPD registration timing or an OPD registration fee. We looked at the home page, the Patients page and department pages, and those two details are not stated. Both are flagged below instead of being filled in from other websites.

How to book a KGMU OPD appointment

Based on what the official pages show, there are two routes. Neither route is a guarantee of a slot, so treat them as the starting point.

  1. Telephone: call the online-appointment lines printed on kgmu.org (0522-2258880 or 0522-3539333). Lines can be busy, so try more than once.
  2. ORS portal: the Patients page displays the ORS logo, which points to the national Online Registration System. Use the address ors.gov.in and nothing else.

King George’s Medical University is on the public ORS list of hospitals (checked 18 October 2026). Which departments issue an OPD card and the booking steps are visible only after login, which we did not enter, and the official KGMU page gives no steps.

If you want the general ORS steps used at other government hospitals, read our AIIMS online appointment guide and the AIIMS Delhi online appointment guide. The ORS system is the same national platform, although each hospital decides what it offers and for which departments.

A warning about look-alike websites

Many websites use names that resemble KGMU and promise a quick KGMU OPD appointment. They are not run by the university, and we have not used them as sources or linked to them. Some of them also quote different fees and timings from one another. The university’s own domain is kgmu.org. If a website asks you to pay for an appointment, or to share an OTP or Aadhaar number in a form you reached through a search result, stop and check with the hospital by telephone first.

KGMU OPD timings: what is published

There is no single hospital-wide timetable on the official site. What exists are department pages. We read two of them to show how much OPD arrangements vary.

Department pageWhat the page says
Medical GastroenterologyOPD Monday to Saturday, 09:00 AM to 04:00 PM, in the New OPD, rooms 312, 317, 318 and 319. Gastro clinic on Monday, Tuesday, Friday and Saturday; Hepato clinic on Wednesday and Thursday
Clinical HaematologyOPD on Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday, room 220, New Block, 2nd floor. Saturday is a special clinic: preventive haematology, bone marrow transplant follow-up and survivorship clinics rotate by the Saturday of the month. No hours are printed

Notice what this means for a KGMU OPD appointment. The Gastroenterology page prints hours, the Haematology page does not, and the days differ. Always check the department you need rather than assuming that one department’s timing applies to another.

KGMU’s official site does not state general OPD registration hours. Confirm by calling the appointment lines before you travel, especially on Saturdays and public holidays.

Fee: is there a charge to register?

The official pages we read do not state an OPD registration fee. Non-official websites quote different amounts, which is a reason to confirm rather than to trust any of them. The department pages show a link labelled Price List, but its contents could not be read in our check.

The official site does not state the OPD registration fee. Ask for a printed receipt for anything you pay, whatever the amount.

Departments that run an OPD

The Patients page of kgmu.org lists more than fifty OPD departments. Among them are:

  • Medicine, Surgery, Paediatrics, Pediatric Surgery and Obstetrics and Gynaecology
  • Cardiology, Cardiovascular and Thoracic Surgery, Neurology, Neurosurgery and Nephrology
  • Medical Gastroenterology, Surgical Gastroenterology, Endocrine Surgery and Medical Endocrinology
  • Medical Oncology, Surgical Oncology, Radiotherapy and Gynaecological Oncology
  • Orthopedic Surgery, Paediatric Orthopaedics, Sports Medicine, Trauma Surgery and Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation
  • Ophthalmology, Otorhinolaryngology and Head Neck Surgery, Dermatology, Psychiatry and Geriatric Mental Health
  • Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine, Respiratory Medicine, Urology, Vascular Surgery and Transplantation
  • Dental OPDs such as Orthodontics, Periodontology, Prosthodontics and Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery
  • Clinical Haematology, Clinical Immunology and Rheumatology, Family Medicine and Emergency Medicine

Having a department name ready makes a call about a KGMU OPD appointment much shorter. Each department page on the site has an Out Patient Services section with its OPD days and room, though some sections are more complete than others.

About the hospital

These facts come from the About Us and History pages on kgmu.org:

  • The idea of the medical college dates to 1905, in memory of a royal visit. The first session began in October 1911 and the building was formally opened on 27 January 1912.
  • King George’s Hospital was formally opened in January 1914 with 232 beds. Queen Mary’s Hospital for women and children followed in 1932.
  • In 2002 a state Act renamed it Chhatrapati Shahuji Maharaj Medical University. In October 2003 it reverted to King George’s Medical University.
  • The site describes the associated hospitals as a tertiary care centre. It gives 4,250 operational beds in one place and over 4,000 functional beds in another.
  • The campus covers about 7 square kilometres, with more than 50 buildings, in Chowk, Lucknow.

A hospital this large has several entrances and buildings, so ask the telephone team which block and floor your department uses when you book your KGMU OPD appointment.

What to carry on the day

KGMU OPD appointment: what to carry checklist
What to carry

KGMU does not publish a document list on the pages we read, so this is a practical checklist rather than an official rule. Carry:

  • A valid photo ID. Aadhaar is the most widely used, and ORS registration is linked to identity details.
  • Any printout or message showing your registration, if you registered online.
  • Old prescriptions, reports and scans for the problem you are visiting for.
  • A referral note, if another doctor sent you.
  • Enough cash and a phone with charge, in case a counter needs a payment you did not expect.

Contacts you can rely on

Only numbers printed on the official site are given here. We have not published any number from a third-party website.

PurposeNumber printed on kgmu.org
Online appointment for KGMU OPD0522-2258880 and 0522-3539333
Emergency ambulance assistance+91 94530 04209
Poison Information Centre (24×7)+91 8887-624287

Each department page also has its own contact line. For a specific clinic, such as the ones above, use the number on that department’s page and keep the general appointment lines for booking.

Plan your visit step by step

  1. Decide the department. Check its Out Patient Services section on kgmu.org for OPD days and room.
  2. Call the appointment lines, or try the ORS portal, to ask about a KGMU OPD appointment for that day.
  3. Confirm the registration hours and the fee when you call. Write down the answer and the date.
  4. Reach early. Large OPDs fill quickly, and a first visit needs time for registration.
  5. Keep your reports together in one folder and ask for a printed receipt for any payment.

For comparison, our Sir Ganga Ram Hospital online appointment guide covers a private Delhi hospital with a different booking process, and our list of the best government hospitals in India shows where large public hospitals fit in the wider picture.

Ayushman card and costs

The Ayushman scheme concerns admission and approved treatment, not the OPD registration step. Whether a card helps for a particular KGMU OPD appointment depends on what treatment follows, and kgmu.org does not describe it on the pages we read. Our Ayushman card at AIIMS guide explains how the scheme works in general, using official sources.

A last word on the KGMU OPD appointment: the details above come from the university’s own pages, and the KGMU OPD appointment arrangements can change. Check the KGMU OPD appointment lines again before you travel, and ask at the counter if the KGMU OPD appointment process for your department looks different on the day. Keep your printed receipt from the KGMU OPD counter.
