OPD registration at AIIMS hospital Rishikesh

The OPD Schedule page of the hospital states OPD patient registration from 8:00 AM to 11:30 AM, Monday to Saturday. That is the registration window. The page does not give consultation hours or department-wise days, so this guide does not either. For doctor names and department timings, see our AIIMS Rishikesh OPD doctor lists and timings.

The same page lists a registration charge of Rs 10, with a validity of 1 week. Ask at the counter what the validity means for a follow-up visit. The official Charges page is the place to check other fees.

Steps to register
AIIMS hospital Rishikesh OPD registration steps
OPD registration
  1. Register online if you can. The official home page links “OPD Registration and Lab Report” to the ORS portal. Our AIIMS online appointment guide explains the Online Registration System, and the ORS registration steps, shown for AIIMS Delhi work in the same way.
  2. Or register at the hospital between 8:00 AM and 11:30 AM, Monday to Saturday. Do not arrive after the window closes.
  3. Pay the Rs 10 registration charge and keep the registration slip or card.
  4. Go to the department that matches your problem and wait for your turn.
  5. Collect reports through the same portal. The home page link covers lab reports as well.
Telemedicine and virtual OPD

Telemedicine is another route. The institute’s telemedicine page describes a virtual OPD (e-Dhanvantari) that started in March 2020, offering allopathic and AYUSH consultations by phone, WhatsApp message or WhatsApp video call. It lists general virtual OPD hours as 9 am to 6 pm on six working days, and the home page also links to e-Sanjeevani for teleconsultation. These pages do not list phone numbers for the virtual OPD, so use the hospital’s contact numbers below to ask.

Departments and services at AIIMS hospital Rishikesh

The official Departments page lists 49 entries. They include clinical, teaching and laboratory departments, plus a few divisions. The groups below are ours, for readability, and the department names are the official ones.

The Departments page also names Anatomy, Physiology, Pharmacology, Forensic Medicine and Toxicology, Hospital Administration, Evidence Synthesis and Continuous Professional Development. These support teaching and administration, and most patients will not visit them directly. A department being listed does not mean its OPD runs every day, so check the AIIMS Rishikesh OPD doctor lists and timings before you travel.

Emergency and special services

The home page says AIIMS hospital Rishikesh offers 24×7 emergency services, split into Trauma Surgery and Emergency Medicine, and runs telemedicine spokes plus heli-ambulance and drone-based services in remote parts of Uttarakhand. The institute also lists special clinics, a blood bank, nursing services and a patient feedback page under Patient Care. The special clinics page we read did not show clinic days, so ask the hospital for them.

Charges and schemes

Besides the Rs 10 registration charge, the official Charges page is the fee reference. Do not rely on rates quoted by agents or social media posts. The institute’s social responsibility page mentions special desks for patients admitted under Ayushman Bharat and for below poverty line patients. Our Ayushman card at AIIMS guide explains what the card covers, and that it does not cover ordinary OPD visits.

Which route to use: emergency, OPD or telemedicine

  • Emergency: use the emergency number 0135-2462503 or go to the emergency department. The home page describes emergency services as 24×7.
  • Planned consultation: register through the ORS portal or at the counter during the 8:00 to 11:30 AM window, Monday to Saturday.
  • Follow-up questions or remote areas: ask about the virtual OPD (e-Dhanvantari) or e-Sanjeevani, which the institute’s pages describe.
  • Admission under a scheme: ask for the special desk for Ayushman Bharat patients that the institute’s page mentions.

Choosing the right route saves time at AIIMS hospital Rishikesh, because the OPD registration counter is not an emergency service. If someone is seriously ill or injured, do not wait for the registration window.

How to reach AIIMS hospital Rishikesh

The official postal address is Virbhadra Road, Rishikesh, Uttarakhand 249 203. Search for “AIIMS Rishikesh” in a map app and show the address to a taxi or auto driver. The official site’s Directions section is empty, and it does not state distances from the railway station, Haridwar or the airport.

The AIIMS Rishikesh home page has a “Directions to AIIMS Rishikesh” section. We could not read distances from it, so we do not state kilometres from the nearest railway station or airport. Use that section or a map app before you travel.

Registration closes at 11:30 AM, so people travelling from other towns should plan to arrive early. The hospital’s own pages we read do not list guest houses or a patient hostel, so this guide names none.

What to carry to the hospital

What to carry

The official pages do not publish a document list for OPD registration, so this is practical advice, not an official requirement. Carry a photo ID, a working mobile phone, earlier prescriptions and test reports, and cash for the Rs 10 charge. If you have an Ayushman card, take it along with the photo ID.
