An AIIMS Patna online appointment is booked through the national Online Registration System (ORS) at ors.gov.in, and AIIMS Patna is one of the hospitals listed on that system. The same hospital also registers new OPD patients at its own counters for a fee of Rs 30. This guide explains how the two routes fit together, what the official documents say about fees, timing and ABHA, and what to check before you travel to Phulwari Sharif.

General information, not medical advice. Hospital rules change. Facts below were checked on 17 October 2026 against the sources listed at the end. Anything we could not confirm is flagged in the text.

Can you get an AIIMS Patna online appointment?

Yes, through ORS only. The ORS portal run by the National Informatics Centre lists “AIIMS, Patna, Bihar” in its official list of hospital nodal officers for Bihar. ORS describes itself as “a framework to link various hospitals” for online registration and appointments. Patients choose a hospital and a department, pick a date and receive an SMS for the appointment.

So an AIIMS Patna online appointment is not a separate AIIMS Patna app or website form. You use the ORS portal, the same one used by many central government hospitals. If you want the general ORS steps for every AIIMS, read our AIIMS online appointment guide.

Online booking for AIIMS Patna is through ORS only. Which departments and dates are open depends on what the portal shows when you log in, so check your department there.

How AIIMS Patna online registration works step by step

AIIMS Patna online appointment: step-by-step process
How to book

The ORS home page says the booking flow is: verify yourself, select the hospital and department, select the appointment date, and receive an SMS. Here is how that maps to an AIIMS Patna online appointment.

  1. Open the ORS patient portal at ors.gov.in and use the Register or Login option. Keep your ABHA number ready, because the ORS home page says you verify yourself with it (you can create one from the same page).
  2. Choose AIIMS Patna from the hospital list and select the department you need.
  3. Pick an available date. Slots depend on what the hospital releases, so a date may not always be open.
  4. Save the SMS and appointment details. ORS sends an SMS for the appointment. A new patient is given a Unique Health Identification (UHID) number, and an existing UHID is reused if your Aadhaar is already linked.
  5. Complete your registration at the hospital on the day, as described in the next section.

The ORS home page, read on 17 October 2026, describes a first visit in the same order: verify yourself using ABHA (Ayushman Bharat Health Account), select the hospital and department, select the date, and receive an SMS. You can also create an ABHA from the same page. We did not enter any details on the login screen, so check the exact fields there.

Registration at AIIMS Patna: fee, timing and ABHA

AIIMS Patna online appointment: registration rules card
Registration rules at a glance

AIIMS Patna’s own Medical Records SOP, dated 28 May 2025, gives the registration rules that apply once you reach the hospital. They matter because an AIIMS Patna online appointment still ends with registration in the hospital’s HMIS (hospital management information system).

ItemWhat the AIIMS Patna SOP says
New OPD registration feeRs 30, for both general and super-speciality clinics
OPD new registration timing8 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.
Emergency registration feeRs 30; in urgent or unknown-patient cases a patient may be registered without paying first
Special clinic, internal referralRegistered at the clinic counter without any charge
Special clinic, referred from outsideRs 30 registration fee
Duplicate registration bookletRs 30 for general patients, Rs 50 for patients with an EHS card
ABHAPatient details are captured through ABHA and an ABHA address and number are allotted automatically at registration

Each patient gets a Central Registration (CR) number that stays the same on every later visit. The SOP also mentions a pre-registration slip that a patient fills in themselves when registering online. Bring the same details every time, spelled the same way, so the hospital can link your old records.

The SOP says the Medical Records Department does not keep OPD files itself, so a department may keep your OPD papers. Keep your own copies of prescriptions and reports.

The AIIMS Patna OPD page itself (aiimspatna.edu.in/opd, read on 17 October 2026) lists these cut-offs:

WhatMonday to FridaySaturday
ABHA token, new visit OPDtill 11:30 a.m.till 10:00 a.m.
ABHA token, revisit OPDtill 12:30 p.m.till 11:00 a.m.
OPD entry, new or revisit8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.8:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.
Interdepartmental OPD referraltill 3:30 p.m.till 12:00 noon

So the 11:30 a.m. new-registration limit above holds on weekdays, but on Saturday the new-visit cut-off is earlier, at 10:00 a.m. The hospital number printed on the same page is +91-612-2451070.

Documents to carry for your AIIMS Patna online appointment

AIIMS Patna online appointment: documents checklist
What to carry

The sources we read do not publish a complete document list, so this is a practical checklist based on the identity details ORS and the registration module use. Carry:

  • Your appointment SMS or a screenshot of it, if you booked through ORS.
  • Aadhaar card, and the phone number linked to it, because ORS and ABHA use Aadhaar-based identity.
  • Your ABHA number or address, if you already have one.
  • A valid photo ID, and an EHS card if you have one (the SOP names EHS in its fee rules).
  • Old prescriptions, reports and scans for the condition you are visiting for.
  • Cash for the Rs 30 registration fee, in case the counter asks for it.

Walk-in registration or AIIMS Patna online appointment: which one?

The SOP describes both an online route (self-entered pre-registration) and counter registration. If you can book, an AIIMS Patna online appointment saves you from deciding the date on the day and gives you an SMS to show. If no slot is open, or you cannot use the portal, go to the registration counter within the new-registration timing, 8 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.

Arrive early either way. Registration closes at 11:30 a.m., and OPD patients are seen in the department after registration. For doctors and departments, use our AIIMS Patna OPD guide and the AIIMS Patna doctor list.

Specialty and super-speciality clinics at AIIMS Patna

Specialty clinics follow the special clinic rule in the SOP. If a doctor inside AIIMS Patna refers you to a special clinic, you register at that clinic’s counter on the given date at no charge. If you were referred from outside, the fee is Rs 30. Rather than guessing the clinic day, ask the referring doctor for it in writing.

We have separate guides for two frequent searches: the AIIMS Patna gastroenterology doctor list and the page on neurosurgeons at AIIMS Patna. For an overview of the institute, see AIIMS Hospital Patna.

Ayushman card and costs

Registration is Rs 30, but treatment, tests and admission have their own costs. The Ayushman card covers hospital admission and day-care treatment, not ordinary OPD visits. Our Ayushman card at AIIMS guide explains this with official sources, so you know what to expect before an AIIMS Patna online appointment turns into admission.

What to do if the AIIMS Patna online appointment does not work

Portals fail, slots fill and OTPs arrive late. These checks usually help:

  • No slot or no hospital listed: ORS says availability depends on each hospital, and its home page notes that online appointments at some hospitals were suspended during COVID-19. Try another date or use counter registration.
  • OTP not received: confirm the mobile number is the one linked to your Aadhaar or ABHA.
  • Booking trouble: ORS tells patients to contact the nodal officer of the respective hospital for appointment or slot issues. The nodal officer list is published on ors.gov.in.
  • Wrong or duplicate details: use the same name, date of birth and mobile number each time so the same CR and UHID numbers are reused.

If you are travelling from another district, do not rely on a single booking. Keep time to register at the counter before 11:30 a.m. as a backup. For other AIIMS institutes, see our AIIMS Delhi online appointment guide.

Do you run a clinic or practise near AIIMS Patna? We publish useful, accurate guest articles from registered doctors and clinics. Read our Write for Us guidelines.

Before you travel, remember that an AIIMS Patna online appointment does not replace registration at the hospital. Check the AIIMS Patna online appointment rules on the ORS portal and the hospital’s OPD page again on the day, because an AIIMS Patna online appointment slot and the OPD cut-off times can change.
