Jan Aushadhi protein powder is the cheapest branded-equivalent protein you can buy in India. PMBJP’s official Product & MRP List, read on 15 October 2026, has eight protein and nutrition products: a 250 g everyday protein powder at ₹177.97, a 1 kg whey at ₹1,333.86, a Diabetes Care powder, two renal powders for kidney patients, a women’s protein, a protein bar and a malt food drink. Worked out per 100 g, most cost half or less of the brand on the chemist’s shelf next to them. This page lists every one with its drug code and price, and the branded product it replaces.

Jan Aushadhi prices are PMBJP’s published MRP on 15 October 2026 (official Product & MRP List); the drug code lets you check any row. Amazon.in prices were read the same day and change often; the links show today’s price. Some links are affiliate links and we earn a small commission at no extra cost to you. A protein supplement is food, not medicine; kidney, liver and diabetes patients should take one only on their doctor’s or dietitian’s advice.

The comparison is by price per 100 g of powder. It is not a comparison of protein per rupee: the brands and the Kendra products put different amounts of protein, sugar and vitamins in each scoop, and we have not read the Kendra labels for this page. Read the nutrition panel on the tin before you decide, and compare grams of protein per serving.

On price alone the Jan Aushadhi protein powder wins in every row except one. The women’s protein is the exception: Horlicks Women’s Plus in a 400 g refill works out slightly cheaper per 100 g than the 250 g Jan Aushadhi jar, though it is a malted drink rather than a protein powder.

Which Jan Aushadhi protein powder is for whom

  • Everyday protein powder (250 g): for an older parent who eats little, someone recovering from an illness or surgery, or a vegetarian diet short on protein. It is the one most Kendras stock.
  • Whey protein (1 kg): for adults who exercise and want a plain whey; it is the only whey on the list.
  • Diabetes Care protein powder: made for people with diabetes who need a supplement; take it only if your doctor or dietitian has suggested one, and count it in your meal plan.
  • Renal care, low protein: for chronic kidney disease patients not on dialysis, who are usually told to limit protein.
  • Renal care, high protein: for patients on dialysis, who lose protein in each session. The two renal powders are opposites; using the wrong one can harm a kidney patient, so buy only the one the nephrologist names.
  • Women Protein: a general protein drink for women; Poshan is a malt-based food drink for children and adults.

Jan Aushadhi protein powder for dialysis and kidney patients

Dialysis units at government hospitals often hand patients a diet chart that includes a protein supplement, and the branded renal powders cost ₹1,000 or more for 400 g. The Jan Aushadhi protein powder for dialysis patients (high protein, drug code 2242) costs ₹444.92 for the same 400 g, less than half. Show the tin to the dietitian or the nephrologist before switching, because the dose depends on the patient’s weight and blood reports.

How to buy Jan Aushadhi protein powder

How to buy Jan Aushadhi protein powder at a Kendra
Buying at a Kendra
  1. Write down the drug code from the table: 1440 for the everyday powder, 2238 for whey, 2240 for diabetes, 2241 or 2242 for kidney patients.
  2. Find a Kendra with the locator on janaushadhi.gov.in or the Jan Aushadhi Sugam app, and call first; the whey and renal powders are not stocked everywhere.
  3. Ask the pharmacist to order it if it is out of stock; Kendras order from PMBJP’s warehouses and the code is all they need.
  4. Check the date on the tin; protein powders have a shorter shelf life than tablets.
  5. Do not buy it online from sites that call themselves Jan Aushadhi stores: PMBJP sells only through Kendras.

If there is no Kendra near you, the branded options in the table are linked to Amazon. For other Kendra prices, including the medicines patients usually take with these supplements, see the Jan Aushadhi medicine price list; for adult diapers and other care products for bedridden patients, our adult diaper price guide.
