The ORS page prints a Sunday counter timing, but the OPD schedule page shows Sunday only for a Geriatric clinic in Medicine (9 to 1) and says the Sports Injury Centre is closed on Sundays. Confirm with the hospital whether general OPD registration really runs on Sunday.
The schedule page was marked as updated on 17 October 2026, the day we checked it. Even so, individual departments publish their own hours, and the next sections show how much they vary.

The hospital publishes a long department-wise schedule. These are the main entries we read:

For Paediatric Surgery, one note on the schedule page says 9 am to 2 pm while the day table says 9 am to 4 pm, Monday to Saturday. Confirm before you travel.
Many specialty clinics, such as Gastroenterology on Wednesday or Rheumatology on Monday, run in the afternoon from 2 to 4 pm on one fixed weekday. Check the day for your clinic first, because a specialty clinic that sits on Thursday will not help you on a Tuesday.
Why Safdarjung OPD timings look different across websites
Search results often give two different answers, such as 9 to 1 and 9 to 4. The official pages explain part of it. Registration counters close around 11:30 am, the Medicine OPD runs 9 to 1, and afternoon screening or specialty clinics run 2 to 4 pm. Paediatric Surgery and Radiodiagnosis list 9 to 4 for their own departments. So treat the registration hours as the deadline and the department hours as the clinic window.
How to book Safdarjung OPD online through ORS
The hospital says OPD appointments can be booked through the common government patient portal at ors.gov.in, or through the mobile app found by searching ehospital on the Google Play Store. Online OPD registration at the hospital began on 15 October 2015, and the hospital says it should reduce registration waiting time.
The hospital’s page does not give a step-by-step walkthrough, so here is the general flow that applies to government hospitals on ORS:
- Open the ORS patient portal and sign in with your mobile number.
- Choose Delhi, then VMMC and Safdarjung Hospital, then the department.
- Pick an available date and confirm the appointment.
- On the day, collect the OPD registration slip at your department’s counter (listed below).

The ORS page lists the departments and the date each joined online booking. Counters for the collection of the slip are named as well:

The page also says all departments at SSB have ORS facilities, with dedicated SSB OPD counters. The page does not expand SSB, so we have left it as printed.
Booking online does not remove the visit to the counter. You still collect a registration slip, so reach the counter within the hours above.
Is there a Safdarjung OPD fee?
We could not find a published OPD registration fee. The ORS page, the OPD schedule and the Citizen Charter we read do not state one. The Citizen Charter only lists a heading for financial assistance to BPL patients, without amounts or eligibility details, and an Ayushman Bharat window at the enquiry reception.
The official pages we read do not state the current registration fee. Ask at the enquiry counter or call the hospital, and do not rely on figures quoted on third-party sites.

Documents to carry for your visit
The hospital pages we read do not publish one complete document list, so this is a practical checklist. Carry:
- A valid photo ID. Aadhaar is the most widely accepted.
- The ORS appointment details or a screenshot, if you booked online.
- Old prescriptions, reports and scans for the condition you are visiting about.
- A referral note if another doctor sent you.
- Your hospital registration number if you have visited Safdarjung before.
Safdarjung hospital address and official contacts
The hospital sits on NH 48 near AIIMS, in Ansari Nagar West. This is a different institution from AIIMS, even though both are in the same part of South Delhi, so check the name on your slip.

The Citizen Charter links a public grievance mechanism and a Grievance Redressal Cell, and says feedback and suggestions may be addressed to the Medical Superintendent.
