AIIMS Hospital Gorakhpur, officially known as the All India Institute of Medical Sciences Gorakhpur, is a premier public medical university in Gorakhpur, Uttar Pradesh. As one of the 20 operational AIIMS across India, it serves as a top-tier institution for healthcare and medical education. Announced as part of the “Phase-IV” AIIMS expansion in July 2014, AIIMS Gorakhpur is dedicated to providing advanced medical care, research, and education for the region.
In July 2014, Finance Minister Arun Jaitley allocated ₹500 crore for new AIIMS hospitals, including AIIMS Gorakhpur in Uttar Pradesh’s Purvanchal region. Prime Minister Narendra Modi laid the foundation stone on 22 July 2016, and the OPD began operations on 24 February 2019. Later that year, AIIMS Gorakhpur welcomed its first 50 MBBS students, becoming one of six new AIIMS hospitals to open in 2019.
