The IGIMS rate list is the price list that the Indira Gandhi Institute of Medical Sciences (IGIMS), Patna publishes for registration, tests, beds and procedures. This guide sets out the charges patients ask about most, taken directly from the official IGIMS hospital charges document, with a link to the full list so that you can check any item yourself.
Prices are as printed in the official document we read on 7 October 2026. The document carries no effective date, so confirm the current charge at the IGIMS billing counter before you pay.

How the IGIMS rate list works
The official list gives two prices for most items: an OPD rate and a Paid Clinic rate. The Paid Clinic rate is about one and a half times the OPD rate. The list does not explain the two columns. Most patients registered in the regular OPD pay the OPD rate, but ask at the counter if you are unsure which applies to you.
Many procedures also have separate rows for the general ward and the private ward, and the private-ward price is higher. For some procedures, such as angioplasty or pacemakers, the list says that devices and consumables are charged extra at actual cost. Those extra costs are not shown in the list.

New OPD registration runs from 8:30 AM to 1:30 PM, and the OPD works 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday to Friday. On Saturday the hospital works 8:30 AM to 12:30 PM. Contrast for MRI is listed separately (MRI contrast 10 ml: ₹1,500 OPD rate), so a contrast study may cost more than the scan price alone.

Samples are received at the central collection centre from 8:30 AM to 1:30 PM. HbA1c appears in the list at ₹275, but it is marked with the list’s “to be implemented soon” sign. Ask the lab whether it is currently available.

Before you pay: five things to check
- Which rate applies to you. The OPD rate or the Paid Clinic rate, and the general ward or the private ward.
- What is extra. Contrast, stents, implants, consumables and lab materials are often charged on top.
- Whether the test is available now. Items marked “to be implemented soon” may not be offered yet.
- Your scheme. If you are covered by a government scheme, ask at the counter before paying cash.
- The receipt. Keep every receipt; you may need them for reimbursement.
